The game was already off to an ominous start. Rain and a wet outfield caused a delay of 90 minutes, frustrating players and fans alike. Nevertheless, once the match got underway, the Punjab Kings soon took control of the match. Young opening batsman, Priyansh Arya, brought instant entertainment to the curtailed evening with an explosive innings of 70, including six sixes and five fours. His bold stroke-play gave the contest the early impetus it so desperately needed. While Arya entertained the crowd, Prabhsimran Singh quietly collected runs at the other end and reached his half-century without much notice. Singh's innings of 50 not-out also made a statement in the end as it took PBKS to 122-1 in just 10.1 overs and made him the first uncapped player to score four 50s in a row in IPL history.
