Vaibhav the Valiant: 14-Year-Old Suryavanshi Stuns GT with Record-Breaking Ton

In a thrilling encounter at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on April 28, 2025, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) delivered a commanding performance to defeat the Gujarat Titans (GT) by 8 wickets in Match 47 of the IPL 2025 season. This victory was marked by a historic innings from 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who became the youngest player to score a century in men's T20 cricket history.

Gujarat Titans Post Rocky Total:

Batting first, the Gujarat Titans posted a challenging total of 209/4 in 20 overs, with captain Shubman Gill leading their charge, scoring a fluent 84 at a strike rate of 168. Marilyn was able to anchor the innings by limiting his boundaries, while the contributions from their middle order pushed GT over the 200 mark, setting a challenging total.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi Breaks Record Four Times:

Meanwhile, in reply to GT's 210, the Rajasthan Royals started their innings with the genius Vaibhav Suryavanshi opening. The young 14-year-old went mental, assaulting the GT bowling attack on his way to a timeline-shifting, Indian IPL record-settling 101 off just 38 balls with 7, 4's and 11, 6's. Ironically, he achieved his hundred and set his new records, in 35 balls, which is also the fastest hundred by an Indian in IPL.  Suryavanshi's innings not only guided RR to victory but also showcased his sheer talent and potential on the big stage.

On the other end, Yashasvi Jaiswal made a valuable contribution of 70 in 40 balls, which kept the Royals scoring at a rapid rate throughout the innings. Their partnership steadied and set the Royals up for a successful chase, and RR chased down the target in just 15.5 overs, at 212/2 and won the match by 8 wickets.

Points Table Implications:

This win was much needed for the Rajasthan Royals, who were at the bottom of the points table. The victory kept their chances of qualifying for the playoffs alive while rising to eighth place with six points from ten matches. The loss keeps the Gujarat Titans in a strong spot, as they remain in third place in the table with 12 points from nine matches.

Looking ahead:

The rise of Vaibhav Suryavanshi as a match-winner further strengthens the Royals' campaign, and as the tournament progresses, RR will hope to ride on this momentum. GT will hope to regroup and fortify their position in the top half of the table.

Chak De IPL.!!!
