TATA IPL 2025 Final Preview: Punjab Kings vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru | Who Will Win?
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season will recommence after suspension due to national safety. The IPL will restart on May 17, 2025 and end on June 3, 2025.
The IPL was suspended May 8 after
an airspace incident, which occurred when Pakistan attempted to breach
containment in the airspace around Chandigarh. The stadium lost power during
the serious breach when Punjab Kings were facing Delhi Capitals. The BCCI had no choice but to suspend the
tournament at that time.
The revised schedule reflects 17
played matches remaining in the tournament including playoffs to be played over
multiple sites. The following cities will be utilized: Delhi, Ahmedabad,
Lucknow, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Jaipur. The governing body used special action
to suspend home-and-away formats to expedite the adjusted schedule.
Bengaluru's M. Chinnaswamy
Stadium will host the first match on May 17, 2025 between Royal Challengers
Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). RCB fans are expected to make
a big deal about the return including a fans tribute to Virat Kohli after his
announcement to retire from Test who was a former player for the RCB.
The BCCI has also confirmed that
all matches will be broadcast live on Star Sports in various languages and
cricket fans will be able to enjoy live HD streaming for free on JioHotstar via
mobile and smart TVs.
There will also be the two
double-header matches on Sunday May 18 and May 25 in the revised schedule which
will ultimately extend the period of cricket-viewing for the fans. The venues
for the playoffs have not yet been finalized.
Cricket Australia has confirmed
it is working with the Australian government and the BCCI to keep the players
safe given the possible return to the IPL.
Some Australian players like Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh
Inglis, are bound by scheduling demands, with a tight turnaround ahead of the
World Test Championship Final against South Africa, starting June 11 at Lord's.
The BCCI made a swift move to
amend the schedule of the tournament showing its intent to ensure the safety of
its players and fans while keeping the integrity of the competition. Cricket fans can now look forward to an
exciting finish to the IPL 2025 season.
Chak De IPL.!!!
