TATA IPL 2025 Final Preview: Punjab Kings vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru | Who Will Win?

Royals Thrash Super Kings in Delhi Match
In a match that counted as both teams' final league
match, Rajasthan Royals (RR) got a dominant victory against Chennai Super Kings
(CSK) at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi on May 20, 2025. RR won the match by six
wickets with 17 balls remaining. The Royals finished IPL 2025 strongly. RR were
out of the playoff race, but at least played with a smile, showing their talent
and future promise, especially emerging talent Vaibhav Suryavanshi.
Match Summary
Venue: Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi
Result: Rajasthan Royal won the match by 6 wickets
(17 balls left)
CSK Innings: 187/8 in 20 overs
RR Innings: 188/4 in 17.1 overs
The Chennai Super Kings may have put up a total of
187/8, a number that is par with the innings especially with batting-friendly
conditions, however it is a little underwhelming - a competitive score, but
disappointing in that there was no mid-overs fireworks through the innings, and
no one batsman put together an innings to see their team to a higher aggregate
total than they did. All the top-order openers led CSK off to brisk starts, but
RR's bowlers really stifled any sort of momentum in the middle overs. CSK may
have added some runs in the end due to a couple of late boundaries, but it was
known that they left runs out there, as it was evident they should have been
able to put up at least 200 or more.
RR's Chase: Youth!
The chase started off with a bang, thanks to the 14-year-old
Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who played without nerves and with flair and aggression.
Not many IPL appearances under his belt, and Vaibhav is already a crowd favourite,
and today against CSK was just another innings that keeps moving him quickly in
the rising star column. Vaibhav ran the powerplay, collecting boundaries with
little effort and rotating the strike like he had been playing IPL for years,
and should not have been nervous in this environment.
Once Suryavanshi moved on, it was the turn of Dhruv
Jurel and Shimron Hetmyer. The two of them further consolidated and pressed the
scoring. Jurel is an astute cricketer - it was a well-worked run-chase -
Hetmyer built on doing what Hetmyer does in the final overs and ensured there
were no hiccups. RR breezed home in just 17.1 overs - what a way to make a
statement.
Highlights
Vaibhav Suryavanshi (RR): The teenage sensation set the platform for RR with a rapid innings at the top. He embodied confidence, timing and technique in a pressure match.
Dhruv Jurel (RR): Pressure has never fazed Jurel,
his composed and efficient knock gave RR the impetus to ensure that they closed
off the game and showed why he is one of India’s future stars.
CSK bowling attack: There were moments where
individual bowlers showed promise but collectively were not able to lend a
cutting edge needed for a below-par score.
What This Means for CSK
This defeat only makes things worse for CSK and
their disappointing season. CSK are now at the bottom of the points table, and
in danger of finishing last for the first time in IPL history. This loss
indicates that the issues are much deeper than expected from inconsistent
performances and poor bowling. CSK have just one more match left in their
league campaign, and they will need to act quickly to try and gain some pride.
Conclusion
The Rajasthan Royals' victory was not only two
points, but it was also a showcase of new talent and hope for the future.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi is a bright spot in an otherwise poor season for the
Royals. For CSK, this defeat is a reprimand and a need for rebirth. As the
league reaches its conclusion, this match will be most remembered for promising
young talent, and two of the IPL's most storied franchises are changing.
Chak De IPL.!!!
