TATA IPL 2025 Final Preview: Punjab Kings vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru | Who Will Win?
The 55th match of the 2025 IPL between the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and the Delhi Capitals (DC) happened on May 5th, 2025 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Unfortunately, due to continuous rainfall and wet conditions, the match was abandoned, and both teams shared a point.
Match Summary:
SRH won the toss and opted to
bowl first. DC got off to a difficult start, losing five wickets for just 29
runs on the board at one stage. Despite the early collapse, pair of Tristan
Stubbs and Ashutosh Sharma helped stabilize an innings that was wobbling
precariously. Stubbs finished unbeaten on 41 while Ashutosh made a fine 41
which helped DC get to 133 for 7 in 20 overs.
SRH's captain Pat Cummins bowled
beautifully, with figures of 3 wickets for 19 runs, and destroyed DC's top
order.
Rain Interruption and Abandonment:
The match was interrupted
multiple times due to rain and although there were attempts to resume the
match, the rain and the condition of the ground surrendered further play.
Therefore, umpires decided that further play would be impossible, and the match
was abandoned resulting in both teams sharing a point.
Team Perspective:
The outcome was very
disappointing for SRH because they were now out of contention for the playoffs
(a share of a point), who required a win to remain in contention for a playoff
position.
For DC the extra point helps in
the quest for a top-two spot in the league standings for a lesser first-round
playoff matchup.
Whats Next?
With the conclusion of the league
stage fast approaching teams will start to get an indication for the impact
each match will have. For SRH the focus now will be on closing the season on a
high note, whereas DC will need to close out the league phase in good shape to
help them in the playoffs.
Chak De IPL.!!!
